Saint Tropez is a commune of the Var départment in southern France, located on the French Riviera.

The seaside resort Saint Tropez is still very popular with the tourists, although the jetset and the in-crowd have long since left it behind.

Set on the lovely blue water of the Bay of Saint-Tropez this modern version of a medieval town is most popular for the line of yachts along the quai, and the facing line of terrace cafés.

St Tropez became "St Trop" when the show business people, artists and writers all fell under the spell of this charming little port in the 1950's.
There is the Place des Lices where movie stars and local stars get together to play a game of boules or sip Pastis under the plane trees.
Beaches : Bouillabaisse Beach, Caneliers Beach, Salins Beach; there are at least 40 on the peninsula.

Saint-Tropez is a shopping paradise with many shops open all the year round and luxury stores, amongst which you will find the most famous brands.

Tropezien beaches are located along the coast in the Baie de Pampelonne also know by the residents as Grania (pronounced granny-ay), which lies south of Saint-Tropez and east of Ramatuelle. Pampelonne offers a collection of beaches along its five kilometre shore. Each beach is around thirty metres wide with its own beach hut and private or public tanning area.

Many of the beaches offer windsurfing, sailing and canoeing equipment for rent, while others offer motorized water sports, such as power boats, jet bikes and water skiing.
